How much should I expect to pay for entertainment?
Some musical acts perform for a selected period of time (e.g., 3 hours) and charge a flat rate. Other, such as caricaturists and face painters, have a per hour rate. A general rule of thumb, as in other service industries, is that the more people needed for the entertainment, the more expensive the act will be. Rates will also vary by the type of entertainment you select. The more specialized an act or the higher its demand, the more expensive it will be. Some instruments are also pricier, e.g., a harpist will generally charge more than a guitarist (harps are harder to transport, and there are fewer harpists available!). Finally, rates vary around the country. Locations such as Washington, D.C., with a higher cost of living usually have higher rates for entertainment, too. Call us with your request, and we will provide you specific rate information – often on your initial call.
